Project Description
Delivering website training in times of COVID-19

Staff from South East London CCG and South West London CCG working from home and across multiple locations during Covid-19 required training on a new website CMS.
Solution
COVID-19 prevented our usual face-to-face training approach, but it was important for new site editors to receive the same level of quality information sharing and assistance to prepare them for managing their new WordPress websites.
We addressed these requirements using a multi-facetted approach, initially producing a comprehensive user manual to guide editors through the key elements of website authoring. From this, we identified a broad range of existing, or no previous, knowledge of WordPress editing, which shaped the lesson plan for a virtual training session.
Using Microsoft Teams, we delivered highly successful interactive training sessions that gave participants the opportunity to watch a step-by-step masterclass from our subject matter experts whilst carrying out editing tasks simultaneously on their own PCs. In-session feedback was actively encouraged to ensure any questions were answered, and the session was recorded for future refreshers and new editors.
